The US exceeds forecasts in September with 254,000 jobs.
The US Job Market Exceeds Expectations with 254,000 increase in US nonfarm payrolls last month and a 4.1 percent decrease in the unemployment rate. The revised gains for July were up by 55,000 to 144,000, while the revised gains for August were up by 17,000 to 159,000.
The 140,000 jobs that experts projected in a Trading Economics survey did not match September’s actual job gains.
The Labor Department said that job additions exceeded the average monthly gains of 203,000 during the previous 12 months.
Employment in the hospitality industry, government, social services, food and beverage companies, and construction all continued to rise. The impact of Hurricane Francine, which hit Louisiana on September 11, on the labor market was minimal during the reference periods for the surveys included in the report.
The number of employees added to restaurants and bars increased by 69,000, which was substantially more than the 14,000 average for the previous 12 months. The healthcare sector created 45,000 new employees per month, less than the average of 57,000. The government added 31,000, as opposed to 45,000 on a monthly average. A further 27,000 came from social assistance.
Not far from the monthly average, construction added 25,000. 7,000 jobs were lost in manufacturing, the majority in the car sector.
The jobless rate decreased from 4.2 percent in August, however, it is still higher than the 3.4 percent five-decade low seen in early 2023.
Before the holidays, Amazon is employing 250,000 people in the US.
According to the business on Thursday, Amazon anticipates hiring 250,000 transportation and warehouse workers for the upcoming Christmas shopping season—the same amount as the previous year—because the company believes that e-commerce spending will surpass overall holiday sales in the fourth quarter of 2024.
We believe that 250,000 is the ideal number to maintain growth and progress with our operations, even while demand and volume are expected to increase,” stated Sandy Gordon, vice president of Global Operations Employee Experience at Amazon.
The proportion of the 250,000 seasonal workers—which also include employees in sorting centers, fulfillment centers, and delivery stations—who work in fulfillment centers or as transport workers was not made apparent. A corporate spokeswoman stated that delivery service partners and their teams will not be among the transport employees.
Target, a big-box rival, will add 100,000 employees for the season, although Amazon is still employing more people than it did the year before.
Green Card Requirements for Individuals with Extraordinary Ability are Updated by USIC
Guidelines for the EB-1 category of visas, sometimes known as green cards, have been modified by US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). These visas are granted to individuals who can “demonstrate” remarkable skill in their chosen field of science, art, education, business, or sports.
For example, according to NFAP data, as of November 2, 2023, the total number of Indians waiting for an EB-1 green card was under 1.4 lakh, whereas the figures for EB-2 and EB-3 combined were in the millions.
Teams now receive recognition from USCIS. Furthermore explained are the following: a relaxation of publication rules; explanations regarding the applicant’s exhibitions; and acceptance of prior participation in famous or exclusive clubs in relevant professions.
The USCIS’s amended guideline focuses on the kinds of proof that the applicant has an outstanding ability that the agency will take into account when evaluating EB-1 petitions. To be eligible for this green card, one must fulfill several requirements.
