Satnam Singh Biography :
Satnam Singh Bhamara is an Indian professional wrestler and former basketball player who currently competes in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He made history in 2015 by becoming the first Indian player to be selected in the NBA draft when he was picked 52nd overall by the Dallas Mavericks. Standing at a height of 7 feet 2 inches (2.18 meters) and weighing 360 pounds (160 kilograms), he played as a center in basketball. He received his high school education and played basketball at the IMG Academy located in Bradenton, Florida.
Satnam Singh Bhamara was born on December 10, 1995, in the small village of Balloke in Punjab, India, to Balbir Singh and Sukhwinder Kaur. His father and grandfather were wheat farmers and millers, and his father had played basketball due to his exceptional height. Satnam grew up with his sister Sarabjot Kaur and brother Harshit Singal. At the age of nine, Satnam was already 5 feet 9 inches (1.75 meters) tall, taller than most people in his village.
Singh’s father introduced him to basketball and installed a hoop in a dirt courtyard near their house. Due to his rapid physical growth, Satnam was given the nickname “Chhotu,” meaning “little one” in Punjabi, as the basketball seemed to shrink in his hands over time. He quickly found success in youth leagues in his state.
At age 10, Satnam was enrolled at the Ludhiana Basketball Academy in Ludhiana, Punjab, with the help of his father’s friend Rajinder Singh. At the academy, he learned many basketball skills and drills. By the age of 14, Satnam had grown to a height of 6 feet 6 inches (1.98 meters), weighed 230 pounds (104 kilograms), and wore size-18 shoes. As he was further exposed to professional basketball, including the NBA, he began idolizing Kobe Bryant and modeling his game after Yao Ming and Dwight Howard.
