About Satinder Sartaaj

Satinder Pal Singh, more recently known as Satinder Sartaaj, has been a famous Punjabi singer, actor, poet, composer, and writer. And he was born on 31 August 1982 in Bajrawar village of Hoshiarpur district of Punjab. He has gained public fame for his song “Sai” and is also very famous for his Sufi and folk music. He completed his schooling at government schools in Hoshiarpur and nearby villages Chabbewal and Patti. Later, he went to Government College, Hoshiarpur, and graduated in Music.

He also completed a five-year diploma course Sangeet Visharad in Jalandhar. Unlike other regional singers, Sartaj rightly chose to pursue education in the field he was passionate about and has completed his M.Phil in Sufi Music and further holds a Doctorate in Sufi Vocals from Panjab University It curry.

He also holds a diploma in Persian language, which also explains his affinity for folk music all over the world. Sartaj married Gauri, who has been his longtime girlfriend, on 9 December 2010 at the Taj Hotel in Chandigarh. Even in his early days, Satinder was poetically named as “Takhallus”. And later he also adopted “Sartaj” as a pseudonym for being a devoted writer even during his sleepless nights at Panjab University. He was also keen about his love for music and started performing on various children’s stages from the third grade onwards.

He has also won Punjabi Music Awards in the categories of ‘Best Music Video’ and ‘Most Popular Song of the Year’ in 2011 for his composition “Sai”. Also in 2014, he was also awarded as Punjabi Music Sufi Sikandar of the Year for his album Rangrez, Poet of Colours. Also in 2016, his song Sift, Sardar Ji was awarded as the Best Video of a Religious Song.
