He was born and brought up in the village of Cheema Kalan, Jalandhar, Punjab. He is also the son of Piara Singh Cheema and Harbhajan Kaur. Sarabjit Cheema completed his schooling at GHS Nurmahal, Jalandhar, Punjab College itself. Whereas, he did his graduation from Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar, Punjab before pursuing his love for music as a career. The family consists of Sarabjit Cheema’s parents as well as his two siblings Amarjit Cheema and Jaswinder Kaur Sandhu.

Sarabjit made his debut in the music industry in 1993 with the song Yaar Nachde. Later in 2004 he also came up with Pind Di Kudi. He also got knowledge of music from Guru Balraj Bassi.
