In May 2016, HARP launched the Stop Defaming Punjab campaign, urging people to fight against the propaganda that more than 70% of Punjabis are also into some form of substance abuse.
He was widely criticized for this campaign and was criticized by people who either had vested interests or who didn’t really understand the message. He was accused of being the mouthpiece of the ruling party, and which is also believed to be primarily responsible for the widespread drug use in the state.
