Canadian Hindus Protest Khalistani Attacks on Temples On Tuesday, more than 1,000 Canadian Hindus came together in Brampton to express their concerns about the rising violence against Hindus in the country following a Khalistani attack on a Hindu temple. In addition to inviting the Hindu diaspora to show solidarity and calling on Canadian authorities to address the increase in targeted violence, CoHNA posted information about the event on X (previously Twitter).
What are Hindus in Canada asking for in the fight against Hinduphobia?
In Brampton, more than a thousand #CanadianHindus have assembled to demonstrate against the increasingly blatant attacks on Hindu temples,” the post stated. “On the holy #Diwali weekend, Canadian Hindu temples from coast to coast were attacked yesterday.
According to the demonstrators, the purpose of the solidarity demonstration is to put pressure on Canadian law enforcement and politicians to stop aiding Khalistanis.
During the Diwali weekend, there were numerous attacks on Hindu temples across Canada. The CoHNA called for an end to the “Hinduphobia” that exists in the nation.
Canadian Hindus are attacked by Khalistanis
Conservative Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, Toronto Member of Parliament Kevin Vuong, and Member of Parliament Chandra Arya all strongly condemned the Khalistani extremists’ attack on the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton, Canada. Outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton, Khalistani extremists brandishing Khalistani flags battered and attacked several Hindu devotees with sticks on Saturday.
‘Red line crossed’: Khalistanis attack Hindus at a temple in Canada, according to leaders
Several Canadian politicians, notably opposition leader Pierre Poilievre, Toronto MP Kevin Vuong, and MP Chandra Arya, have condemned the recent attack by Khalistani radicals on the Hindu Sabha temple in Brampton.
Poilievre, Trudeau’s political opponent, called for the “right to practice faith in peace” and promised to put a stop to Canada’s chaotic atmosphere. From terrorist cosplayers to Khalistani fanatics, Canada has turned into a haven for radicals. Just as our politicians have failed to protect Christians and Jews from violence, they are now failing to protect Hindus. We are everyone entitled to peaceful worship.
A Canadian police officer was suspended for attending a pro-Khalistan demonstration outside a Brampton Hindu temple.
In Canada, Sergeant Harinder Sohi of the Peel Regional Police was suspended after he was observed collaborating with pro-Khalistani organizations who attacked Hindus at the Hindu Sabha Temple in Brampton. Videos from Sunday’s demonstration at the Hindu Sabha temple showed him.
On camera, Sergeant Harinder Sohi was seen waving a Khalistan flag while protesters screamed anti-Indian sentiments. Peel Police spokesperson Richard Chin stated that the police department was aware of the social media footage that showed one of its off-duty officers taking part in a demonstration.
Since then, the Community Safety and Policing Act has been used to suspend this officer. The “deliberate attack” outside the Hindu Sabha Mandir, which is close to Toronto, was denounced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday.
“I vehemently denounce the intentional assault on a Canadian Hindu temple. The cowardly attempts to intimidate our diplomats are equally reprehensible. India’s resolve would never be weakened by such violent attacks. On X, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated, “We expect the Canadian government to ensure justice and uphold the rule of law.”
Canada-India diplomatic dispute
The new khalistani attack highlights a troubling trend of religious intolerance and joins a series of similar events that have been reported in previous years. India has refuted all of the accusations, describing them as “absurd” and “motivated,” and has said that Canada is providing extremists with a platform.
